Welcome to BackThred. By using our marketplace, you agree to these Terms of Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, placing an order, or otherwise using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use our platform.

2. Escrow and Payment

When a buyer completes a purchase, payment is held in escrow until the order is fulfilled and delivery is confirmed. Funds are not released to the seller until the order is completed. This protects both buyers and sellers.

Payment release occurs when: (a) the buyer confirms receipt of the item, or (b) the inspection period expires without a dispute. Once released, the transaction is final and no refunds are available.

3. Inspection Period

After an item is shipped to the buyer, a defined inspection period begins. During this time:

  • Your payment remains held in escrow
  • You may inspect the item to ensure it matches the listing
  • You may confirm receipt to complete the order and release payment to the seller
  • You may open a dispute if the item does not match the listing or is damaged

If you neither confirm receipt nor open a dispute before the inspection period ends, the order will automatically complete and payment will be released to the seller. Once you confirm receipt, the sale is final—no refunds are available.

4. Disputes

Disputes may only be opened during the inspection period and only by the buyer. You cannot open a dispute after the order is completed or after the inspection period has expired.

When a dispute is opened: (a) the order status changes to disputed; (b) escrow remains held—no funds are released until the dispute is resolved; (c) our team will review the case and evidence; (d) we will notify both parties of the resolution.

Resolution outcomes: if resolved in the buyer's favor, the order is cancelled and a refund is initiated. If resolved in the seller's favor or the dispute is rejected, the order resumes and the buyer may confirm receipt. Our decision is final.

5. Refunds and Cancellations

Refunds are only issued when a dispute is resolved in the buyer's favor or when an order is cancelled before fulfillment (e.g., quality check failure, seller non-fulfillment). No refunds are available after you confirm receipt or after the order is completed.

6. Seller Obligations

Sellers must accurately describe items, ship to our warehouse within the required timeframe, and comply with our quality standards. Items that fail quality inspection may result in order cancellation and refund to the buyer.

7. Buyer Obligations

Buyers must provide accurate shipping information and promptly confirm receipt or open a dispute during the inspection period. Confirming receipt constitutes acceptance that the item matches the listing.

8. Prohibited Conduct

You must not: list counterfeit or prohibited items; misrepresent items; abuse the dispute system; harass other users; or violate any applicable laws. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts for violations.

9. Limitation of Liability

BackThred acts as an intermediary platform. We are not responsible for the quality, legality, or accuracy of listings. Our liability is limited to the extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the platform.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated via email or platform notification.
